Cabela's

Today we decided to take a family trip. We went to Cabela's in East Hartford to get our anniversary gift to each other. A dutch oven, pretty romantic huh? Well two kids and 12 years what so you want?!? We are going camping for the first time in our married life, so this was a practical gift! The kids were good and enjoyed the mountain of stuffed animals and the aquarium that runs through the mountain. Kel and I had gone about a month ago to look at tents so we knew that the kids would probably think it was cool. When we were there before we saw all these kids running around with pop guns. I enjoyed them but the kids really had a blast. I did convince them that when we were in the cafeteria style restaurant that it was a bad idea to pop them and annoy everyone. Lunch was good Kel and I had Bison burgers which we liked and the kids had Trail dogs. They tasted like summer sausage but I don't think I want to know what they were made out of!! We shared fries and onion rings which were both pretty good but the best was that they of course had PEPSI!!!! Then we picked out an oven while the kids tried out all the tents and beds they have out. The kids thought it was like the greatest treat to try each and everyone out over and over again like they were play houses. The next stop was the laser shooting gallery where you shot at little sensor and things popped and lights turned on and fell over. We saw all the displays and check out the kids stuff. Rowan LOVED the stuffed animals. At one point she had one of each horse in her arms and looked like she was going to fall over. They were almost bigger than her!!! She did find a large Golden Retriever that she managed to get in the cart but didn't notice when daddy left it camping!! I know what she will be getting for her birthday!! All in all we had a lot of fun and good laughs. I do have to admit that we did cave and got each one a pop gun! MAYBE WE SHOULD HAVE STOPPED FOR ASPIRIN ON THE WAY HOME!!

Don't you just love that place. You were pretty brave to get the pop-guns, hopefully they didn't drive you too crazy. My kids had great fun with them, too!
